"Shifting Horizons is a fine collection of short stories each one being written with skill and originality. The characters in each story are given unique, very believable and relatable voices, and the stories are all fulfilling.

The stories range from the humorous to the creepy, from the mundane to the thought-provoking and sensitive, and each one is a great read. What I particularly enjoyed is the way in which Sheena leaves room in many of the stories for the reader to use their own imagination and, as such, it becomes easy to visualise the scenes that she paints.

Another strong positive is the flash fiction pieces which intersperse the 'longer' short stories, each of which really stimulate the reader. All in all a fine collection which I would recommend to anyone who enjoys short, relatable stories based in real life situations."

Sheena Billett

Sheena has long been fascinated by the everyday and the knowledge that everyone has a story, no matter how unremarkable they might seem. The theme that connects all of her writing is that of journeying through life. This might be a literal journey, as in From Manchester To The Arctic, or an emotional journey where characters are sometimes pushed out of their comfort zones through having to deal with a crisis or unforeseen event.

Sometimes the journey results in growth and exciting new horizons, but in other cases, there are those who refuse to take any steps along the journey, and consequently remain stunted, often damaging the people around them as a result.

Sheena lives with her wife in Nottinghamshire.
